In Loving Memory
Ronald Reed Richardson
8/19/1949 - 6/16/2012

Ronald Reed Richardson of Blackfoot, Idaho passed away on June 16, 2012 while camping at Birch Creek in Idaho.

He was born August 19, 1949 to John and Maurine Richardson. Ron grew up in Southern California with his two siblings, Norene and Delia Sue.

Ron married Sandra Altimus on February 5, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have enjoyed 43 memorable years of marriage. After they were married, they lived in El Centro, California where they built a home and raised two children; Linda and James.

Ron was a dedicated and loyal member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). His local union was 569 out of San Diego, California. He enjoyed electrical work and travelled all over the country but always held his union card in San Diego. His work was a large portion of who he was. He thrived in the electrical industry for over 35 years. Throughout the 35 years he has build strong friendships with many of his union brothers and sister in the trade. Ron fully retired from the union last year and has been enjoying life with his wife in Idaho.

Ron loved life and adventure to the fullest. During his life time he traveled all over the United States and Canada. During his travel he expressed how much he loved Alaska and Idaho. He always found the best places to camp, fly fish, gold dredge and metal detect. He loved to take the quads on long rides down trails he'd never been on. He enjoyed sharing his adventures with this family and friends.

Ron is survived by his wife Sandra, his daughter Linda, his son James and daughter in law Dawn. He is also survived by many loving family members such as his two granddaughters Samantha and Rebecca, two grandsons, Matthew and Ryan, his sisters Norene and Delia Sue and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and great friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, mother and his grandson Justin.

Ron's final wishes were to be cremated and placed to rest in the Salmon River -- the river of no return wilderness, in Idaho. He wanted to spend his eternity in Gods Country strolling the riverbeds and white water rapids for the ride of a life time. A remembrance plaque will be placed in Idaho in the future.

There are no words to say how sorry we are for the loss. We wish there was something we could do to help ease your pain. We meet Ron when he took a call for Warbonnet, from there we became good friends. Ron and Sandy came up to Panther Creek where we were camping and from that point on we spent many summers camping, dredging, panning gold,( Ronda and Norma came up after diving for gold). We took our trailers and motorhomes where no man should have been. We enjoyed the Salmon area together. We had many campfire debates and lots of laughs. Ron was a rare person and we considerd him a true friend. We won't be the only ones to miss him, he took our son Blu under his wings and taught him alot. We'll miss you Ron, tell Artie hi for us when you get to Salmon. Sandy if there is anything we can do to help you please just lets us know and please please stay in touch. Our hearts go out to you and your family. Friends Always. Norm and Julie

I have had the pleasure of knowing you and your family for decades and yet only minutes. You were always there to share the good and the bad yet somehow make a joke out of the negative and laugh it off. That is what I will miss the most, Your laugh! No matter what the issue you would just laugh at it and say "Oh what the hell, it ain't gonna kill us so we might as well have some fun." So you andFrank are out playing as it should be. I will miss the emails and the conversations for sure but happy knowing you are having fun and waitin' on the rest of us. See you soon my Brother, it was one hell of a ride!

Dear Dad, I'm sure gonna miss you. Thanks for being my dad and for teaching me how important it is to laugh and smile every day. I inherited your sense of humor. I know you will be watching over me and mom and James. We will be ok. James and I will look after mom, but I have a feeling that it may be her that looks after us. She is the strongest person I know. Take good care while you're up in Heaven. Please give a big hug to Gramma and Grampa for me. I sure do miss them. Give Justin a big hug and kiss from his Aunt Linda. Have all the fun that Heaven could possibly offer with Danny and Frank. I love you, pop. Until we meet again......Love your "Pooper."

Well, Ron, you will always have a special place in my heart and mind. Of all the jobs we worked together, my fondest memories are of when you and Sandy came every year to visit me at my property here in Elko, NV, after I retired. While sitting outside in our lawn chairs overlooking the beautiful Ruby Mountains, we bent more pipe and pulled more wire than any two wireman I have ever heard of. I think Sandy enjoyed the visits also beause she always had a great hot meal going for us. Rest easy "ol" buddy, I am here to help Sandy and the rest of your family if called upon. You're always in my memories.....Your Bro..."little" Ron

To all my dear friends and in a very real sense my extended family, I'm sorry for your loss. One of the things I admired most about Ron was his sense of adventure, He and Sandy were able to enjoy most of this America that a lot of us either don't have the courage to or the willingness. The ability to live outside of what most would consider a conventional lifestyle, to be part of nature, pick-up and go, see what's around the bend. The time I spent with James and his Parents in the wilderness of Idaho planted an idea in my head, that's how to live, doing what you want, going where the road takes you. So I suppose nature will continue to take Ron on a journey, in the water, through the rocks and in the air. It goes without saying you will be sorely missed. My prayers and deepest condolences are with you all.

I am sorry for your loss. Even though we haven't met, my thoughts are with you and your family. Loss of a parent is hard to take. I lost my dad in 2007. Just know that eventually most of the sadness will go away and laughter and memories will take place. Remember the good and bad with a smile. Let my son help you in this time of need.
