Mom came into this world on January 15, 1927 a daughter of Hershell and Ellen Mecham. She was raised in humble circumstances but was loved by her family. She is the oldest of four children, two sisters Lynada Crezee and Shirley Mecham and brother Vergene Mecham. After having graduated from Firth High School, she married her eternal sweetheart Lawrence Lyon in the Logan Temple on November 7, 1945. Under this blessed union 5 children were added, LaMaun (Mala) Lyon, Lawrene (Dan)
Freckleton, Dustin (Jessie) Lyon, Barry and Blair Lyon.
Mom had many loves in her life, family, music, flowers, her church and laughing among others. She had a very beautiful singing voice and sang for many public gatherings including musicals in the Firth community. She was always singing and those around her loved to listen. Her love of music has been passed on to future generations.
Her greatest love was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren very much. Every year she had a summer outing and would invite all her grandchildren. The stories we heard later about these outings made us glad we were informed of them later. Our children still talk about the wonderful times they had with Grandma. Her love of children led to her being in the Foster Parents Program in Firth School district.
She always had plants growing in her home and yard. Among her favorite flowers were spider mums, iris and lilies, but all were beautiful to her. She enjoyed going out in the spring to look at the wildflowers.
She was a lifelong member of the LDS Church. She served in various callings but her greatest love and involvement was with the youth. Her greatest enjoyment in service came when she was Ward Camp Director. Many fond memories and interesting stories were created during their days at Girls Camp. The young women who went to camp with her, still have fond memories of those days.
Mom was a joy to be around and always had a smile for everyone she met. She loved to laugh and make others laugh too. People loved being around her and she loved being around people. She had a very outgoing personality and was always willing to participate in conversations with others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Vergene, sister, Shirley, husband and her son Barry.
