Alvin H. Criddle, 88, of Basalt, Idaho passed away in Idaho Falls, Idaho February 22, 2006.
Alvin was born February 20, 1918 in Basalt, Idaho the son of Charles Criddle and Harriet Habbeshaw Criddle. He grew up in Basalt.
On November 30, 1942 he married Marjorie Frandsen in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti, Utah Temple. He served his country during World War II in the European Theatre.
He and Marjorie lived in Utah for a short time but returned to Basalt and raised their boys in the same home where he was born. He worked for the Railroad, Farmed, was a Truck Driver, and Maintenance Engineer until he retired in 1983.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in several positions throughout his life. He loved his family and especially enjoyed the grandchildren and watching them grow. He taught his sons and grandchildren to love and care for animals by paying special attention to his horses and dogs. He loved to take Marjorie horse back riding in the mountains. He had a firm hand shake and liked you to know it. He was cheerful, loved by all, and had a never-ending sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie, of Basalt; four sons A. DeLon of Midvale, Utah, Craig G. (Brenda) of Draper, Utah, Randy C. (Sonja) of Shelley, Idaho, and Lane F. (Terri) of Rigby, Idaho; Sister, Bessie Miller of Idaho Falls, Idaho, 16 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two granddaughters Rebecca and Jessica Criddle.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 27 at the Firth Stake Center, (133 South Main) in Basalt, Idaho with Bishop Samuel K. Walker, conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm Sunday at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and from 9:30 to 10:40 am Monday at the church. Interment will be in Basalt Cemetery. Military rites will be preformed by the Stewart Hoover Post #23 of Blackfoot.
