Andrew Carl Freeman

Andrew Carl Freeman, 91, of Idaho Falls passed away August 2, 2015 at the Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls just a few hours short of his 92

nd

birthday.

He was born August 3, 1923 in Goshen, Idaho to Chester Hyatt and Dolores Jensen.

He was later adopted by Lorin Farr Freeman.

He grew up and attended school in Basalt.

He served as a Military Policeman in the United States Air Force and Army.

One of his jobs in the military was to drive high officials around in a jeep.

While serving in the military he taught himself how to play the harmonica.

Carl married Virginia Lee Moore on October 8, 1946 in Reno, Nevada.

She passed away on July 21, 1970.

He married Marlene Morgan Summers on May 31, 1974 in Ririe, Idaho.

She passed away on October 23, 2010.

He loved camping, teaching his children to fish, dancing, and playing pinochle.

As soon as the first snow flake fell he would clear his and his neighbors’ driveways.

He grew the best garden and was well known for his famous popcorn ball extravaganzas.

He was the director of the Ririe Senior Citizens Center for several years.

Carl was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by five daughters, Carla (Dennis) Compton of Vaughn, MT; Cindy (Gary) Branson of Idaho Falls; Connie (Derek) Hesse of Phoenix, AZ; Corinne (Darryl) Kluksdal of Ammon; Carma (Roger) Slinkard of Portland, OR; two sons, Bryon (Laurie) Summers of Rigby; Mike Summers of Blackfoot; 22 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, siblings, Kenneth (Bessie) Freeman, Paul (Joy) Freeman, Franklyn (Nancy) Freeman, Jerry (Wilma) Freeman, and Richard Freeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, siblings, LaVon Freeman, Majorie Bates, Zella Dannehl, and Melvin Freeman.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Hearts for Hospice and Lincoln Court for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Willow Creek Ward Chapel (6925 N 15

th

E) in Idaho Falls. The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Thursday morning from 10:00 till 10:40 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in the Basalt Cemetery with military rites by the David B. Bleak Post 93 of Shelley assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
