Anna Marie Stringham

June 11, 1926 — May 19, 2017

Anna Marie Johnson Weber Stringham was born in Pocatello, Idaho. She was the 10th child of Daniel Raymond Johnson and Anna Maria Christina Ingelstrom. Two earlier infants had died. Her mother died 2 days after her birth. Anna weighed only 2 ½ pounds at birth. Her Aunt Ellen and Uncle John Lyon took her into their home and raised her with their family in Firth.

Anna attended schools in Firth and graduated from Firth High School in 1946. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and has been active in all of the church organizations. She married Paul Weber from Star Valley, Wyoming in the Mesa, Arizona Temple on February 26, 1948. They lived for a year in Freedom, Wyoming then bought a farm near Firth. Later they sold the farm and built a house in Firth which was damaged in the Teton Dam Flood. Later they moved to Blackfoot. The Webers spent some winters in Arizona. Anna was not blessed with children of her own but she has tended and helped raise many children of her siblings, their children, and the children of many neighbors, friends and family.

Mr. Weber died July 26, 1990. Anna worked as a Foster Grandparent at the Second Chance School in Blackfoot. On June 19, 1992 she married Laird Stringham of Roy, Utah. They lived in Brigham City, Utah. In 1995 they served a short mission in Huntingburg, Indiana. They took many trips to Jackson, Wyoming; Yellowstone Park; Manti, Utah; Firth, Idaho; Arizona and California to visit friends and family. They also spent time with Laird’s daughters Kay Stringham and Diane (Rod) Clark in Brigham City.

Mr. Stringham died June 30, 2006. Anna moved to Blackfoot, first to the Lansing Street Senior Housing then to The Willows Care Center. In February 2015 Anna was moved to the Bingham Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing wing. There she died May 19, 2017 after rapidly failing health.

Anna is survived by her stepdaughters Kay Stringham and Diane (Rod) Clark of Brigham City, Utah, a sister-in-law, Rhea Weber of Roy, Utah, and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by both husbands; parents, Ray and Annie Johnson; foster parents, John and Ellen Lyon; brothers, Carlos, Charles , and Alvin Johnson, sisters, Alta Black, Emma Knudsen, Edna Stuart and June Fransen; foster siblings, Joseph Lyon, Letha Spaulding, Althera Crofts, Mary Crofts and Leah Overson.

The family appreciates the kind and compassionate care given Anna by Dr. Beckett, the staff at The Willows, her roommate Pat, and the many nurses and staff at the Bingham Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing and Long Term Memory Care Center. We give a special heartfelt thank you to her gentleman friend, Dell, for their many enjoyable afternoon rides and his ever watchful care and attention to Anna through her last few years.
