Arthur Carl Rogers

Arthur Carl Rogers, 65, of Firth, passed away June 21, 2010 at his home.

He was born Arthur Carl Engel Jr. on December 11, 1944 in Rochester, New York to Arthur Carl and Gladys M. French Engel.  His parents separated and Gladys married Rudolph “Bud” Earl Rogers. In 1956 at the age of 12 he was adopted by Bud.

He was raised and attended schools in Firth, graduating from Firth High School in 1963.  That same year he joined the United States Army.  At the age of 21 he was the youngest E6-Staff Sergeant in Europe at that time.  He was featured in the “Stars & Strips” in Europe.  He also served in Vietnam from 1965 to 1966.

On March 16, 1966 he married Edith Tarnow in Berlin, Germany.

Arthur was an avid reader, a faithful God fearing man, and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and archery.  He was a loving husband, father, grandpa & great grandpa.  He was a sensitive and caring man.

He is survived by Edith Rogers of Firth; children, Catleen G. Simmons of Fort Worth, Texas; Michael Frank Rogers of Firth; and Susan (Jeff) Lumpkins of Firth; seven grandchildren, Matthew DeCriscio, Kylie DeCriscio, Emily Simmons, Michael Lumpkins, Alex Lumpkins, Caitlyn Rogers, and Christyna Rogers, and one great grandson, Cole Andrew Civiello.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Heidi Stefanie Rogers.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
