Barbara Grange Lyon

Barbara Grange Lyon, a resident of Shelley, Idaho, died on November 13, 2023, of natural causes. She passed away in Idaho Falls, with loved ones around her.

She was born December 20, 1940 to Lelia Longhurst and Claud F. Grange in Idaho Falls.

She married Allan Charles Lyon on August 22, 1963 in the Idaho Falls temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She attended Shelley High and graduated in 1959. She held many jobs during her lifetime. She was an EMT and member of the Shelley Quick Response Unit, a nutrition advisor for the University of Idaho Extension Nutrition Program, school bus driver and worker in the family firewood business, all for many years.

Her true passions were gardening, quilting and bargain hunting. She had a passion for animals that blossomed while working on her dad’s farm and dairy in her youth.

She served in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in various secretary positions, both ward and stake. She was also a faithful visiting teacher.

She is survived by her brother, Kent (Andra) Grange, sister, Aileen Nielsen (Alvin—deceased), and sister, Fawn (Steve) Goodson; children, Bret (JoLynne) Lyon; Brenda Lyon; and Brian Lyon; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two more great-grandchildren on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lindon George and John F., her brother-in-law, Alvin, and her niece, Nikki.

Her life will be celebrated in a small graveside service at 2 pm on Saturday, November 18 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley, Idaho.  Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
