Beverly Jean Lent

Beverly Jean Welch Lent passed away on September 11, 2018 after a full and beautiful life.

She was born on April 25, 1931, to John William Welch and Mary Gladys Brower in Newdale, Idaho. She grew up in the St. Anthony area and graduated from Fremont High School. She then attended ISU on a journalism scholarship.

Bev married Charles Lynn Lent on November 7th, 1953 in Elko, Nevada. They raised their family in Shelley, Idaho.

Bev worked for 35 years in the fresh potato sales office at the French’s/Pillsbury plant. She spent many of her retirement years helping others by raising money for the United Way, serving on the Board of Directors of the Shelley Senior Citizens Center, and mentoring dozens of young boys who came to work for and visit her. She and Lynn loved to spend time at their place in Spencer, Idaho. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was sealed to her eternal companion on April 25, 2009.

All who knew Bev will remember her as a spunky, vivacious, outgoing friend to all. Her bright red car could often be found parked at the local convenience store, where she would be chatting over a diet coke with the sheriff, mayor, postman, or anyone and everyone in town. Bev’s door was always open. And when you entered, you were either fed something, urged to take a pop from her fridge, or commanded to grab a sucker from her drawer. She often showed her love through her excellent cooking- especially thrilling her family with her homemade rolls and chicken noodle soup.

She was everyone’s Grandma Bev. Even if you had just met, she’d call you “sweetheart” and say goodbye with a kiss. She loved people, and her favorite people of all were her children and grandchildren. Bev fiercely cherished her family and was not afraid to let the world know how much she loved them (along with anything else that was on her mind!)

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lynn.

She is survived by her two sons, David (Terri) of Idaho Falls and John (Melinda) of Shelley, her 5 grandchildren, and her 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Linda Moore, and her 5 children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Shelley Fifth Ward Chapel, 513 S. Park Ave. The family will meet with friends Sunday evening from 6:00 pm till 7:30 pm at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, in Shelley and Monday morning from 10:00 am till 10:45 am at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
