Bob Kay Thornley

Bob Kay Thornley, 76, of Shelley passed away December 28, 2021.

He was born October 2, 1945 in Idaho Falls to Kenneth Arnold and Estella Bright Thornley. He attended schools in Idaho Falls and Shelley, graduating from Shelley High School in 1965.

Bob served in the United States Army and was deployed to Vietnam for a tour.

On August 14, 1970 he married Julie Paulette Morris in Idaho Falls. Together they raised eight wonderful children.
He built fences with his dad, worked as a farm hand, and worked at R.T. French Company and Pillsbury Company in Shelley until his heart attack in 1998 when he had to retire on disability.

Bob loved his family and spending time in the mountains hunting and fishing.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Bob is survived by his wife, Julie Thornley of Shelley; daughter, Jill (Ted) Archdeacon of Barlett, TN; sons: Rex (Jennifer) Thornley of Idaho Falls; Bob Alan Thornley of Idaho Falls; Cory (Sherry) Thornley of Pocatello; Jeremy (Sally) Thornley of Idaho Falls; Shaun Thornley of Shelley; John (Megan) Thornley of Blackfoot; daughter, Danielle (D.J.) Colvin of Idaho Falls; two sisters: Marryann (Ray) Petersen of Idaho Falls; Elaina (Raymond) Williams of Firth; 42 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Maxine Mower and Stella Rardin, and one brother, Rex Thornley.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 31, 2021 at the Shelley South Stake Center, 675 South Milton Street. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 A.M at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home.
