Frank Robert (Bob) Wetherbee, 84 passed away on April 18, 2017 at Morningside Reflections after a brief but valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s’ disease. His wife of 63 years, Luella (Lou) was at his side.
Bob was born in Twin Falls and was the son of Roy & Hazel Wetherbee. He graduated from Twin Falls, Idaho in 1951. He married the love of his life on August 2, 1953. Ten days after his marriage the US Army sent him to Mannheim, Germany to serve his county. After discharge from the Army Bob & Lou enjoyed life together and started their family.
They spent many summers traveling & working as a rodeo hand for his in-laws (Jake & Katherine Pope) and the Spur Rowel Rodeo Co. Bob joined the IBEW (Local #449) and became an electrician. At heart he was always a gentleman rancher. One of his goals was to be able to take all of his grandkids on a cattle drive-which he accomplished to the thrill of everyone.
Bob retired from the IBEW in 1996 and they traveled around the country in their 5th wheel and attended the Bishop CA Mule Days several times with several of their friends and family. Bob was very proud that his mule (Molly) won the grand championship mule at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
After many years of travel they focused on spending the summers in the 5th wheel on the golf course in Mackay Idaho. Each day started with the discussion of golf or fishing first. Evenings were enjoyed drinking wine and enjoying the company of friends.
He was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Firth Idaho. He served on the church council, as general handy man and the guy to go to when something needed fixed. He enjoyed tinkering and building unique inventive things for use around the farm.
He is survived by his spouse (Lou), his children Tim Wetherbee (Wendy), Cheri White (Bob), Rob Wetherbee & Jerry Cook (Claudia). His 10 wonderful grandkids & 16 great grandkids and 1 great great grandson.
