Marilyn BoDean Butler Wootton, 91, of Lavaside died December 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by family and friends.
BoDean was born June 26, 1932 to Sara Helen Murphy and James LeRoy Butler during the Great Depression, which she mentioned often. The lack of goods and services left an indelible impression upon her, but also taught her to value family and serving others.
She attended school in Firth and Shelley where she enjoyed sports and choir. After graduation from Firth High School she married the love of her life, Gaylen Neri Wootton of Lavaside on August 7, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. She and Gaylen have five children.
BoDean was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed serving at one time or another in all the auxiliaries as a counselor, teacher, chorister, in-service instructor and in the Young Women's program. She particularly liked being a visiting minister in the Relief Society.
BoDean's main interests in life was her family, which she thanked her Heavenly Father for every day. She enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing and especially spending time with Gaylen as they worked the farm and raised their kids. She made it a priority to spend time with all the extended family as well. She was very outgoing and made friends easily and over the years she kept in touch with many of them.
BoDean is survived by her children, Marilyn Young, Idaho Falls, ID; Lynn/Kathy Wootton, Pingree, ID; Connie Daw, Idaho Falls, ID; Deona/Rick Gardner, Blackfoot, ID; Russ/Danielle Wootton, Blackfoot, ID; 25 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
