Boyd Christensen of Shelley passed away peacefully Oct 15 2009 at University of Utah Hospital surrounded by his family at the age of 87.
Dad was born Sept. 17 1922 in Shelley, ID to Davis Christensen and Emma Jennie McBride Christensen. He grew up working on the family farm and attending schools in Shelley, where he resided his entire life. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
Upon returning home, he was introduced to the love of his life Carla Jean Drewes in April. They were married July 2, 1947. They enjoyed farming and raising their family on their farm in Jameston. He felt very fortunate to have lived the life he was given.
They enjoyed camping, fishing and snowmobiling. After retiring from the farm, Mom and Dad loved spending time together traveling each winter. In 1999, they bought a winter home in Yuma, AZ. They had a great time with friends golfing, playing cards, excursions to Mexico, dancing, shopping flea markets, and relaxing sundowners.
Dad was a good man, with a very big heart. He loved his wife and family, especially those babies. To him, living life was a pleasure. He taught us honesty and integrity by example. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived b his wife of 62 years Carla Jean Christensen; children Carolyn J (John) Peters of Bend, OR, Douglas B (Maristella) Christensen of Sandy, UT, Steven D (Kim) Christensen of Shelley, Renae (Curtis) Biggs of Toquerville, UT and Linda Kay (David) Thompson of Idaho Falls, ID: 16 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren; 15 great-grand children, and 5 step great-grand children. He was preceded in death by his four sisters, his only brother and an infant daughter.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 19, 2009 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. and Monday morning 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with Military Rites by David B Bleak post 93 of Shelley.
