Boyd Virgil Johnson, 93, of Firth passed away May 15, 2013 at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living Center.
He was born November 25, 1919 in Firth, Idaho to William Ezra and Ada A. Dye Johnson. He attended school in Firth and also attended drafting school in California.
Boyd married Phyllis Beth Nield on January 2, 1946 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple. They served two missions together in England and Washington D.C.
He joined the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force and served in WWII.
Boyd enjoyed gardening, woodworking, playing the bass fiddle and harmonica, and family reunions. He loved his grandchildren and devoted his life to his wife. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Beth, children, Terry (Sheila) Johnson of Payson, UT; Cathy (Richard) Adams of Idaho Falls; Danna (Tony) Engedal of Burbank, CA; two brothers, Lewis (Vivian) Johnson of Bountiful, UT; and Val (Edna) Johnson of Idaho Falls; one sister, Julia Henderson of Brigham City, UT; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Darrell, three brothers, Wayne, Garth, and Morris, two sisters, Louise Walters and Marion Jones.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 Noon Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the serves at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 and the Idaho Honor Guard.
