On November 30, 2024, Bruce Jay Campbell passed away at the age of 78.
He was born on October 24, 1946, in Shelley, to David Odell Campbell and Leah Harker Campbell.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Emily "Gene" Petersen, Doris Campbell, and Dorothy Campbell, and his brothers, Wendell Campbell, David Campbell, Perry Campbell, Van Campbell, and Robert Campbell.
He is survived by his son, Robert Campbell, sisters, Bonita Romrell and Rose Hanson, and brother, Lester Campbell.
Bruce graduated from Shelley High School in 1966. He then served his country as a member of the Army National Guard in the Vietnam War from June 1966 to February 1972.
After returning home, he worked at R.T. French's Co. in Shelley. Over the next 40 plus years, Bruce saw the company and its name change multiple times as he took on many positions before retiring as a maintenance mechanic from Basic American Foods.
Bruce was a loving father, brother, and friend who always looked for ways to help others. He had a playful, kind heart and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of many.
Bruce is most remembered for his love of nature, passion for photography, and need for speed. He spent much of his free time in nature, whether he was hunting, camping, or hiking. He always had his camera nearby to capture the perfect photo.
Bruce was a longtime member of the Idaho Falls Eagles Lodge #576, where he donated many of his photos to help raise money for lodge charities. He truly loved sharing his beautiful view of nature with anyone and everyone.
Bruce was a man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites.
