Carl Leroy Landon

Carl Leroy Landon, 89, passed away September 24, 2011 at Lincoln Court Retirement Center.

He was born May 19, 1922 in Battle Creek, Michigan.  He was adopted on May 20, 1922 by William Holland and Lulu May Cole Landon.

Carl attended school in Albion, Michigan, where he met his sweetheart, Pauline Eloise Grenier.  He enlisted in the Navy in 1941, coming home from boot camp December 7, 1941.  His Navy service took him to the west coast where he served in the Pacific area.  After 11 years in the Navy, he returned to civilian life, where he worked in heavy construction in California.  He married Pauline in San Francisco on July 9, 1942.

He enjoyed camping, boating, hiking, fishing, traveling and especially enjoyed painting water colors.  He and his wife became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and were sealed in the Oakland Temple for time and all eternity.  He served in many assignments in the church including, High Priest Group Leader, Member of the Bishopric, Stake High Council, Stake Missionary, and he especially enjoyed serving as a missionary at the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in San Diego.

Carl is survived by his wife, Pauline, two children, Rick (Anita) Landon and Carol (Steven) Leopoldo, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday September 27, 2011 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.  The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 9:00 till 9:40 before the services at the funeral home.  Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery with Military Rites by the American Legion, David B. Bleak Post 93 assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
