Carol Ann Anderson

Carol Ann Rogers Anderson passed away June 11, 2008 in Idaho Falls, Idaho surrounded by her husband and daughters.  She was under the loving care of Turtle and Crane Assisted Living Center and Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Carol was born December 10, 1955 in Boise, Idaho to Roy Wesley Rogers and Freda Henkel Rogers. Carol spent all of her youth in Boise and graduated from Boise High School. She married her sweetheart, Mark Anderson, of Shelley, Idaho on June 12, 1974 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Mark and Carol settled in Shelley operating the family farm. They had three daughters – Cambria, Melissa and Mary Kate (Katie). Carol found her greatest joys in life from being a wife, mother and later a grandmother to her four grandchildren—Paige, Kate, Olivia and Anderson. Her family will always remember her as being devoted, happy, compassionate, hard-working and unconditionally loving.

As a young mother, Carol started her own preschool at home. Teaching is something that came natural to her. She had a way of cultivating excitement for learning while helping develop young imaginations and making everyone feel important.

Carol’s ability to love and care for others led her to achieve one of her greatest goals in life. She graduated from Rick’s College with a degree in registered nursing in 1988. She loved the patients and families she served through her dedicated career as an Intensive Care nurse and later as the director of the Cardiac Rehab department at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Carol wasn’t just a nurse at work; she spent 10 years caring for Mark’s parents and was an inspiration to so many people who watched her selflessly serve her loved ones for so many years.

Carol was a friend to everyone and offered her listening ear to many people young and old. She is described by those who know her as kind, generous, classy and cheerful. She loved to scrapbook, sew, quilt, crochet and garden. Dancing was also one of her talents. She took dance lessons with a group of adult ladies for 20 years. She learned jazz, tap, and clogging and performed every year in a dance recital along with her daughters. She was an excellent cook and loved to eat healthy and exercise. She also loved to entertain family and friends in her home.

Carol joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when she was 12 years old and remained faithful to her religion all her life. She loved to serve her friends and neighbors, spending over 20 years in the Primary and Young Women’s organizations. Mark and Carol served a mission for the LDS church in 2003-2004 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Carol’s faith was a great strength to her throughout her life. She led and lived by example.

Carol will always be remembered for her love for life and her devotion to her family.

Carol is preceded in death by her mother Freda Henkel Rogers Taylor of Boise, her father Roy Wesley Rogers of Boise, her half-brother Ronald Clark of Boise, and her brother Alan Rogers of Boise.

Carol is survived by her husband, Mark, of Shelley; daughter Cambria (Shane) Anderson and grandchildren Paige and Kate of Shelley; daughter Melissa (Stephen) Washburn and grandchildren Olivia and Anderson of Orem, Utah; and daughter Mary Kate “Katie” Anderson of Shelley. She is also survived by step-mother Laneve Rogers of Boise, step-brothers Jeff (Myrna) Rogers of Grand Junction, CO; Kelly (Terry) Rogers of Boise, step-sister Tina Tanner of Boise; and half-brothers Roy (Becky) Rogers and Adam (Lorina) Rogers of Meridian.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, at the Jameston Ward Chapel  1101 E. 1250 North, in Shelley, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak Street in Shelley, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. Monday before services at the church.
