Carol Dawn Gardner Johnson, 83 of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Carol was born in Teton City, Idaho on March 21, 1934 to Thomas and Marie Neibaur Gardner. She was the youngest of 12 children. She attended school at Teton Elementary and South Fremont High in St. Anthony, Idaho.
As a young woman she met a young man from Sugar City, Idaho named Robert Pincock.
They were married on December 12, 1950 in St. Anthony. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 28, 1999. To this union came 4 children, Sherry, Debbie, Laurie and Todd. Bob and Carol moved several times during their marriage, following Bob’s jobs and made wonderful friends wherever they went. They lived in Teton City, Idaho, Logan Canyon, Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada, Moody Creek, Idaho, Ammon, Idaho finally settling in Shelley, Idaho. On August 9, 1968 tragedy struck this young family when Bob passed away suddenly, at the young age of 38, leaving Carol a very young widow, with 4 children.
She found employment at several potato processing plants in the area during this time
as she worked hard to take care of her family.
On March 6, 1971 she married W.D. (Dick) Farnes in Salmon, Idaho. Dick and Carol spent many happy years together enjoying fishing and camping with family and friends. Dick passed away suddenly on December 19th, 1994.
Once again alone, Carol spent her time with friends and family. After a time, she began doing volunteer work at the Shelley Senior Center, being the “Meals on Wheels Lady”. She enjoyed this job immensely and met many new friends.
In 2001 she was introduced to Robert J. Johnson, of Idaho Falls and they were married on
April 14, 2001. At that time Carol sold her home in Shelley and moved into Bob’s home in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They spent 8 happy years together, until Bob’s death on November 3, 2009.
In 2010 Carol moved into a condo in the Linden Park Complex and lived there until 2016, She then moved to Lincoln Court, which was where she was residing at the time of her death.
Carol was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She loved music and played piano for many meetings. She sang in the ward choir, as she had a beautiful voice. She also served in various callings in Relief Society and Primary. She made lifelong friends while doing so.
Carol is survived by her children,: Sherry (Pat) Kearney, Debbie Foster, Laurie (Vincent) Wray, Todd Pincock: Stepchildren: Gary (Mary) Farnes, Judy (Lon) Nebel, Don (Vicki) Johnson, Peggy (Gary) Cobb, and Deon (Rose) Johnson: Brothers : Anthony Gardner and Dean (Vena) Gardner, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grand-children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, 6 brothers: Lee, Ross, Jay, Kenneth, Max and Val, Three sisters: Lucille, Deon, Leona, a son-in-law: Walt Foster
and a stepson: Monte Farnes.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Lincoln Court and to Advanced Home Health Services for their loving care of our mother.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust). The family will meet with friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Wednesday morning form 9:30 till 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.
