Carolyn Sherrick Howell

Carolyn Sherrick Howell, 73, of Basalt, passed away December 24, 2016.

Carolyn was born on September 3, 1943 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Carolyn was the youngest child of John and Jennie Sherrick and the little sister to Ronald Sherrick. She grew up as a young child in Ucon, and moved to the Shelley area where she attended school, graduating from Shelley High School.

On September 15, 1960 she married her sweetheart Jerry Bruce Howell after he diligently pursued her. From this union they had four children, Kevin, Kathy, Wendy, and Kim. They raised their family for a short time in Shelley until moving to Basalt to the home her and Jerry built in 1969.

Carolyn worked since she was 15 years old at numerous jobs and was known as a hard worker. Some of her jobs were waitressing, harvest work, potato warehouses until she became secretary for Idaho Falls Water Company. After several years working there she became a Lab Technician at Idaho Supreme Potatoes until she decided to join her husband in his retirement.

She enjoyed sewing, camping, fishing, hunting, and water skiing in her younger years. She always enjoyed cross word/word search puzzles, gardening and tending to her flowers, watching and feeding her birds and hummingbirds. Carolyn always looked forward to visits from friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was never a time she didn’t have popsicles or cookies to share. She was blessed to have all of her family living near where she cherished and enjoyed time spent with family.

Carolyn always helped and served others and was loved by all. She never met anyone that didn’t become a friend.

She is survived by her husband Jerry, their four children: Kevin J (Traci) Howell, Katherine C (Tim) Tucker, Wendy Kay (Brent) Mecham, and Kimberlee (Kelly) Madsen; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her father, mother and brother.

To honor Carolyn’s wishes the family will have a viewing for family and friends on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. Graveside services for family will be held at a later date.
