Clair Kirkman Baird, 89, of Blackfoot passed away November 16, 2012 at his home.
He was born June 23, 1923 in Wapello, Idaho to Asa Baird and Winnifred Kirkman. He spent most of his early life in Firth where he attended school and graduated from Firth High School.
He served in the US Army during WWII, he was a military policeman in Europe and was part of the Special Escort Guard Unit. He was a carpenter and drywall contractor in the Blackfoot area for many years. He worked and retired from the Department of Interior.
He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Bingham County Posse, Salmon Back Country Horseman, National Eight Ball Pool referee and competitor and Senior League Bowling. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, boating, riding his horses and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janell Baird of Blackfoot; 3 daughters, Elyse Baird of Idaho Falls; Bobette (Ken) Weimer of Auburn, Washington; Amy Reynolds of Tacoma, Washington; 7 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Sherl K. Baird.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 19, 2012 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak, in Shelley. The family will meet with friends Monday for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Grove City Cemetery with military rites by Stewart Hoover Post 23.
