Colleen Hess, 65, passed to the care of her loving Heavenly Father July 23, 2008 from her home in Shelley. She was attended by her husband and sister.
Colleen was born May 1, 1943 to Wesley and Naomi Elison Pharis in Las Vegas, Nevada, where her father was stationed in the Army Air Force. Later, they moved back to Blackfoot where Colleen attended Elementary and Jr. High schools and graduated in 1961 from Blackfoot High School.
She married Robert Elden Hess June 16, 1962. They lived in Salt lake City, Utah where she received a Beauty School Certificate. They lived in Ammon and then for the next 36 years in Shelley.
Colleen enjoyed horses, camping, gardening, her grandchildren, and her many dear friends.
She drove school bus for the Shelley School District for 14 years. She loved the children and remembered each one individually long after she had retired. She was a 4-H Leader, teaching horsemanship and grooming. She had two green thumbs and could make a dead twig blossom and thrive again. She loved working in her beautiful lawn and garden. She enjoyed riding her horses in the mountains. She loved the outdoors. She made friends easily wherever she went and her friends remember her as being selfless and giving with a quick smile and a great sense of humor.
Colleen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many teaching positions.
Survivors include her parents of Groveland, her husband of Shelley, brothers Terry (JoAnne) of Groveland, Steven (Sue) of Pingree, Scott (Kimmie) of Wapello, Chad of Seattle, WA, Kent (Paula) of Wisdom, MT, Ron (Ieleen) of Prescott, AZ, Her sister Susan Pharis currently of Boise. Sons Darin of Jackson Hole, WY, and Travis (Shelley) of Ammon, her beloved grandchildren Cody and Ashley of Boise and Andrew and Emma of Ammon and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a niece, Mary Pharis, and a sister-in-law J'Lene.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the Woodville Ward Chapel (1555 North 700 East) with Bishop Bob Butler conducting. The family will receive friends from 10:00 till 10:45 Tuesday before the services at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
