Colleen T. Dial, 76, of Firth, Idaho, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Bingham Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
She was born May 23, 1932 in Pleasantview, Idaho to Raymond Thorpe, Sr. and Pearl Atkinson Thorpe. She was raised in the Pleasantview area and graduated from Blackfoot High School. She married Robert Lee Dial on March 5, 1966 in Shelley, Idaho. Colleen served her country in the United States Army for over eight years. She was an avid gardener, accomplished cook, and loved the outdoors and family gatherings. Colleen retired after many years from Pillsbury Co. in Shelley, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Dial, one son, Charles Galloway, one brother, Raymond Thorpe Jr., and one granddaughter, Marie Gomez.
Together, Colleen and Robert raised eleven children.
Survivors include ten children: James (Kris) Dial, of Shelley, Idaho, Joy Spadaro, of Long Island, New York, Russell (Linda) Dial, of Firth, Idaho, Linda Stoehr, of Rigby, Idaho, Robert (Rhonda) Dial, of Firth, Idaho, Robert Galloway, of Pocatello, Idaho, Terry Galloway, of Firth, Idaho, Doreen (Gary) Cordova, of Pueblo, Colorado, Bob (Kathy) Dial, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Glen (Vicky) Dial, of Firth, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include three sisters: Dorothea Giannini, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Norma Thorpe, of Moreland, Idaho, and Pearl Butler, of Blackfoot, Idaho, and four brothers: Boyd (Elsie) Thorpe, of Phoenix, Arizona, Dean Thorpe, of Phoenix, Arizona, Joseph (Lee) Thorpe, of Mason, Texas, and Reed (Sherrie) Thorpe, of Blackfoot, Idaho.
Colleen will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bingham Memorial Hospital ICU for the extraordinary care, comfort and concern they provided during this difficult time.
In keeping with Colleen’s wishes, no formal services will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
