Monte Cordell Fullmer, 82, of Firth, passed away on January 21, 2024.
He was born March 31, 1941 in Driggs, Idaho to Garmount R. and Lorna Little Fullmer. He grew up in Tetonia, Idaho where he attended Teton Elementary and Teton High School graduating in 1959. He went on to graduate from Ricks College in 1961 and Utah State University in 1965 with a major in Industrial Arts and a minor in Drivers Education.
On September 1, 1961 Cordell married Karen Natalie Bischoff in Rexburg, Idaho. They were married for 62 years.
In 1964 they moved to Firth where he was the first Industrial Arts teacher at Firth High School. He helped design the Industrial Arts building. He taught school for 41 years and was the wrestling coach and drivers ed teacher for many years.
Cordell enjoyed farming and camping with his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved to hunt and fish. He was a Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Firth; children: Natalie (Mark) Madsen of Shelley; Brenda (Loren) Andersen of Shelley; Lorna (Mike) Bowman of Idaho Falls; John Mont (Becky) Fullmer of Rigby; Deanna (Aaron) Stuart of Shelley; 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brother, Neil (Sue) Fullmer of Soda Springs; sister, LaDonna (Butch) Henman of Rigby; and Rex (Konda) Fullmer of Rexburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Reid Fullmer, and grandson, Jared Andersen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, in Shelley. The family will receive family and friends Friday evening from 6:00 till 7:30 P.M at and Saturday morning from 10:00 till 10:45 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeff Hancock, PA Jed Bartschi and all the staff at Teton Cancer Institute for the care they gave Cordell.
