Daris Tomlinson Quinton

On Tuesday, July 19, 2016, Daris Tomlinson Quinton passed peacefully from this life surrounded by her loving family.

Daris was born August 21, 1940 to Leland and Lottie Christensen in Shelley, Idaho. She was welcomed into this life by her brother Keith and sister Leola. Daris grew up in Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School. She married Richard Peterson and they were blessed with three children. They later divorced and she met and married the love of her life, Karl Tomlinson. With his two children and her three, they began their greatest adventure! Angi completed their family and was referred to as “the icing on the cake”. Daris and Karl were sealed in the Logan Temple October 4, 1973. After 22 years of marriage, Karl suddenly passed away in the middle of a dance on the dance floor. Daris and Karl were finally able to finish that dance.

Daris worked as the secretary at the elementary school, high school, and district office for the West Jefferson school district where she retired in 2006 after many years of service. She was lovingly known as “Mrs. T” to all the kids.

She met and married Verdon Quinton in 2003. They were able to enjoy love and companionship for only a short time as Verdon passed away a year and a half later.

Being an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints kept Daris busy. She served in many callings and also at the Idaho Falls temple. She loved being the Stake Girls Camp Director which she did for many years.

Her greatest joys came when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at family gatherings.

Daris is preceded in death by her loving parents, Leland and Lottie Christensen, her husband Karl, and Verdon Quinton. Daris is survived by her brother Keith Christensen (Jean) and sister Leola Kelley (Norman), her six children Becky Long (Chris), Karl Ray Tomlinson (Lisa), Lynn Tomlinson (Lana), Debbie Sigerson (Greg), Ike Tomlinson (Teri), and Angi Smith (Darrin), and her 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, with three more on the way. She will be missed by all.

The family would like to thank the community for showing her so much love and helping us to care for her. We would also like to thank the medical staff at EIRMC, especially her nurse Jaimason.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at the Terreton Stake Center (1297 East 1500 North) with Bishop Chris Holdaway officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 a.m. both at the church. Burial will be in the West Jefferson Cemetery under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
