David Edwin John, 98, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Shelley, died May 6, 2008 at Idaho Falls Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born July 24, 1909 in Portage, Utah to David A. John and Laura Abbott. His father died when he was ten and the family moved to Goshen, Idaho. He attended schools in Firth.
He married Winnona Christensen on August 28, 1929 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He farmed in Goshen, Taylor, Shelley, and New Sweden. In 1972 they sold the farm and moved to Shelley. He was a member of the Shelley Posse.
He loved gardening, his horses, and fishing. They spent many winters in Overton, Nevada. He moved into Lincoln Court Living Center in 2005 to be with his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Winnona of Idaho Falls; his sons, William Neivell (Joan) John of Meridian; Edwin Lynn (Sandra) John of Syracuse, Utah; Nylla (Gene) Kunard of Pinedale, Wyoming; sister-in-law, Norma John of Idaho Falls; 11 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Kay, four brothers, two sisters, and two step sisters.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday May 9, 2008 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 9:30 till 10:40 at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Goshen Cemetery.
