Deana Christensen Jolley, 79, of Goshen, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Firth on April 29, 2017.
Deana was born May 14, 1937 in Idaho Falls to Rulon and Lois Christensen. She grew up and attended schools in Basalt and Firth and graduated from Firth High School in May 1955. She was active in student body government and was student body vice president. Deana loved to play the saxophone and was the leader of the Pep Band.
She attended Ricks College for one year and then married her sweetheart John Darwyn Jolley in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 18, 1956. Deana loved being a mother and homemaker.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. She was an excellent teacher and always thought that was her favorite calling. She also enjoyed participation and membership in Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She and Darwyn served an LDS mission at the LDS Temple Visitors Center and also served in the Idaho Falls Temple. These years of service brought her tremendous joy.
Deana had many skills and talents. She loved to crochet, knit and sew and loved learning new skills such as painting and playing the guitar. She loved to go camping with her family and was an avid fisherman.
In the last years of her life, Deana fought a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. The family is grateful for those at Syringa Chalet and Hands of Hope Hospice and all those who helped care for her in any way. We are so grateful she is free of this disease and can have her eternal happiness. She will be missed by all who love her.
Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband Darwyn of Goshen and their six children, Bryan (Tamera) Jolley of Shelley, LaVar (Kaye) Jolley of Firth, Sandra (Max) Nulph of Firth, Darvel (Vicky) Jolley of Goshen, Bruce (Lori) Jolley of Goshen and Sheree (John) Fielding of Goshen and her two brothers Reed (Judy) Christensen from Yuma, AZ and Gordon (Doreen) Christensen from Ogden, UT.
