Our Hero, Father, Grandfather and friend Dee Ray Mansfield passed away unexpectedly on June 30th, 2021 at ERMIC surrounded by his three living daughters.
Dee was born April 7th, 1934 in Pleasant Grove Utah to Clifford and Annivhe Mansfield. He was the second born of 5 Children. He loved his siblings, Jay, Annice, Kay, and Sherm. Dee was raised in Samaria (Malad) Idaho his entire childhood years. Dee graduated from Malad Highschool in 1952 where he excelled in Football, Baseball, Track and Field and Boxing. Being a natural born athlete, he became a 2-time Golden Glove champion and received a full ride scholarship for football to Snow College in Ephraim Utah.
Dee married the love of his life on January 1st 1956 in Las Vegas Nevada and was later sealed to his wife and children May 1st 2004 in the Idaho Falls Temple. With this marriage he brought 7 children to the union, Michael Dee, Lorelei, Teresa, Martin Troy, Allison Pearl, Mitchell Ray and Monica. He loved his children with and would have given us the shirt off his back. We are honored to have had him as or Dad.
Dee and Alice bought their home in Shelley Idaho in 1964 where they have resided since. This home has become special to the entire family as a special gathering space especially for Shelley Spud Days which is located across the street from the park it is held.
Dee was a hard worker his entire life, he worked hard from the age of 8 on the family ranch in Samaria and later worked on several farms in the area. After he attended college, he was able to work at several gas stations in California and Idaho and owned and operated a few with his brothers. Dee along with his brothers also owned and ran Mansfield Yamaha (now Bott Yamaha) and Thrifty rent a car in Idaho Falls. After the sell of this business, he was able to get his Real-estate license and sold homes for a few years until the opportunity of starting Custom Gutters presented itself. Dee worked hard and made this business very successful.
Dee had a passion for fishing and passed this passion onto his Sons, Son in laws and Grandsons. He was happy and smiling when he was able to share his passion of fishing with others.
Dee had a witty sense of humor and would make us all laugh. He was a joy to be around because he could be silly, embarrass us and make sure we all knew it was important to have fun. We never knew when he would through a one liner out for us all to be caught off guard and then a for sure belly laugh would come.
Dee was an honest man full of integrity, the most kind human and greatly loved by all that knew him.
Dee is survived by 6 of his 7 children, 33 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild, and 2 siblings. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Alice (passed away May 6th), Both parents Clifford and Annivhe, 2 brothers Jay and Kay, his daughter Allison, 4 grandchildren and 1 great grand daughter.
