Dennis Bonzon, 66, of Basalt, passed away December 19, 2009 at his home of natural causes.
Dennis was born October 12, 1943 in Grande Coulee, Washington to Pierre and Wenafred Cooper Bonzon. He attended school in Grande Coulee and joined the U.S. Army in 1960 and served three years.
He worked in ship yards as a welder until he joined local 192 in Wyoming. He was a member of Local 192 until his death. He was a Welder Foreman, Superintendent of various companies in Wyoming, Nevada, Washington, and Idaho.
He married Karen Knight on October 10, 1975 in Wyoming where they lived until 1985. They moved to Basalt where he retired in 1990. He then worked for the City of Basalt as the maintenance man until retiring in 2008.
Dennis loved to hunt and go four wheeling in his famous white GMC pick up. He loved all the kids that ever came to him and had a love for dogs. He will be missed so very much.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Basalt; sons, Keith K Bonzon of Boise; and Calvin E Bonzon of Aberdeen; daughters, Tara Bonzon of St. Louis, Missouri; and LeAnne Bonzon of Spokane, Washington; step daughter, Shelley J Berggren of Basalt; step son, Jim Pasborg Jr. of Superior, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Candy Bonzon, and sister, Nancy Williams.
Graveside Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday December 23, 2009 at the Riverview Cemetery in Firth with Military Rites by David B. Bleak Post 93. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley.
