Dennis R. Cook

September 6, 1940 — February 5, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Dennis Cook, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born in Shelley, Idaho, to Lamond and Dione Cook, Dennis was the oldest of five children. He graduated from Shelley High School in 1958 and soon after married his high school sweetheart, Joan Rae Wattenbarger, with whom he built a life filled with love, hard work, and adventure for 66 blessed years of marriage.

Dennis started his career at Burgraff Construction before following in his father’s footsteps, farming alongside his brothers. His passion for agriculture led him to establish Double D Farms, where he worked closely with his son. Later in life, he found joy in working for Doug Andrus Trucking, traveling the roads and meeting new people.

Dennis had a heart for service, dedicating time to the Shelley Police Reserve and the Bingham County Search and Rescue. He had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for the outdoors, finding happiness in fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, and trap shooting. Some of his fondest memories were made traveling the country with his beloved Joan by his side.

Above all, Dennis cherished his family. He and Joan raised three wonderful children, Wendi, Beverly, and Darin, who were his greatest pride and joy. His love, wisdom, and unwavering support will forever be felt by those who knew him.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, Lamond and Dione Cook, and his brothers, Gary, Danny, and Darrell Cook. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his children, Wendy (Randy) Eaton, Beverly Eaton, and Darin (Becky) Cook; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, Shelley. The family will receive Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. till 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.

Dennis’s legacy of kindness, hard work, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
