Donald "Bob" Robinson Kirkham

Donald (Bob) Robinson Kirkham, 90, passed away on September 4, 2018, at his home in the arms of his loving wife, Deona.

Bob was born on January 19, 1928, to Lott and Sarah Kirkham in Monroe, Utah. He was the youngest of eight children. He graduated from Shelley High School as a top student, cheerleader, and athlete.

He served two years in the US Navy stationed in the Aleutian Islands and graduated as a top honor student from an electronics school and then entered the Naval Communications Intelligence.

He served an LDS mission in England then came home and married his sweetheart Deona Huntsman in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He worked as an electronic salesman and repairman, Food Service Director at Ricks College, and LDS Employment Director for the Idaho Region. Bob served twelve years on the Shelley school board.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings. He and his wife served for eighteen months in the New York, New York South Mission.

He was an avid Shelley High School sports fan and received the first Bob Kirkham Shelley Russet Fan Award. He loved music and DJ’d at many high school dances. He also loved working with the youth, motor biking, radio-controlled planes and electric trains, and spending time with his grandchildren who each thought they were his favorite.

He was preceded in death by both parents, seven siblings, and one grandson. He is survived by his wife Deona; six children: Gayla (Gary) Dumont, Sydney (Keith) Haslem, Dana (Mark) Searle, Michael (Denise) Kirkham, Mark (Marcy) Kirkham, Steven (Valon) Kirkham; 30 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Woodville LDS Chapel, 1555 North 700 East. The family will meet with friends Friday evening from 6:00 pm till 7:30 pm at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W Oak Street, in Shelley and Saturday morning from 9:30 am till 10:40 am at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 and the U.S. Navy.
