Donna Jessie Bolander

Donna Jessie Bolander, 87, passed away in Shelley, Idaho on March 1, 2015.

Donna was born on September 5, 1927 in Shelley, Idaho to Nils Oscar Bolander and Lois Margret Thomas. She graduated from Shelley High School in 1945.

Donna was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in various callings over the years with many of those years as Sunday School Secretary.  She also enjoyed her membership in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she served and mingled throughout her later life.

Donna was known to the community as a giving and thoughtful person.  Unpretentious and quiet she had good friends and many associates. She enjoyed going to lunch and playing games with these special friends.  It was common for her to deliver gifts and extend small kindnesses to others to brighten and uplift them. She enjoyed the neighborhood children surprising them with special treats on holidays. She would follow these children as they grew, married and had families of their own. Up until her death she would gather the newspapers from neighbors and friends and take them to Idaho Falls for recycling.

Donna worked at Hudson Shoes, Kresses, Slusser Wholesale, and the Shelley Pioneer.

She was a lifelong sports enthusiast watching, cheering, and coaching her football teams from her living room.

Donna traveled through life in an unobtrusive and thoughtful fashion. Her family and friends will always remember her as a person of character, modesty, and trust.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday March 7, 2015 at the Shelley Second Ward Chapel (Shelley Stake Center) 325 E Locust St. with Bishop Terrell Hoskins, conducting. The family will receive friends from 10:00 till 10:45 A.M. at the church. Interment will be at Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
