Doris Lillian Summers

March 4, 1915 — January 30, 2007

Doris Cox Summers, 91, of Idaho Falls died January 30, 2007 at the Turtle & Crane Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls.

She was born Doris Lillian Wadsworth on March 4, 1915 in Idaho Falls to Bertie Wadsworth and Eliza Jane Stoddard of Taylor, Idaho.  She was the third of seven children.  She went to grade school in Taylor and high school in Shelley.

She married Leon (Len) Cox on May 18, 1933.  They had two daughters and farmed in the Jameston area.  Doris cooked school lunches at Jameston for six years and they later moved into Shelley where she was head cook at the elementary school.  They ran several different drive-inns and café’s over the years.  Len died in 1968 and Doris worked at French’s for several years.

She married George Summers and when she retired, they moved to the mountains near Darby, Montana where she lived for several years after his death in 1986.  She later moved back into the Idaho Falls area where she has resided ever since.

Doris was an excellent cook, loved to crochet, and most of all she loved the mountains.  She would go camping as often as she could.  She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include her daughter, Deanna (Dewayne) Moore and her brother Weldon, both of Idaho Falls, 16 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, her daughter, Joy Alene Cox, and one great granddaughter, Sarah Nicole Anderson.
