Doris Lucile Bowman Wells, 93, a homemaker and lifetime resident of the Woodville area, died April 23, 2009, at the home of Troy and Josilyn Halter in Woodville, from natural causes. She was under the care of Blackfoot Home Health and Hospice.

She was born May 19, 1915 in Woodville, Idaho the daughter of Percy Eyring Bowman and Rachel Risenmay Bowman; at the home of her grandparents in the Woodville area. She grew up in the Woodville and Shelley area and attended school in Woodville and Shelley.

On May 29, 1935 she married Dallas Tyler Wells at the home of her Uncle George and Aunt Jane Risenmay’s in Woodville. They were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 24, 1965. Her husband died November 21, 1990.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society and M.I.A. for several years. She served faithfully as a visiting teacher until her health did not allow her to serve. Her hobbies included keeping her yard beautiful and weed free, crocheting, gardening, canning, and reading. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and their families.

In the early years of her marriage she worked in the harvest and at Atlantic Commission Warehouse to help provide for the family. Then in 1963 she started working in the Shelley Jr. High Lunch program until 1985 (22 yrs). She really enjoyed the association with all the children that came through the lunch line, especially her grandchildren. She retired at the age of 70. In her later years she spent her time taking care of her home and yard; which she enjoyed immensely. Going to Senior Citizens twice a week was a highlight in her life.

VanTassel of Queensbury, NY; Joan/Joanne (Kay) Gneiting of Shelley; Sharon Lee (Tom) Murdoch of Woodville; Jay Dallas (LeeAnn) Wells of Woodville; Barbara Wells daughter-in-law of Shelley; 28 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.
