Emma Jean Demello

Our sweet mom, Emma J. De Mello passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in Shelley, Idaho at the Gables Assisted Living and the Hospice Hands of Hope of Idaho Falls, ID.

She was born March 30, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the daughter of Joseph Pacheco and Isabella Victoria Kahooluhilani-Campbell.

She married George Gonsalves De Mello on January 25, 1947 and he passed away April 7, 2001.

She is survived by her seven children; Carol De Mello, Michael, Joanne (Jo) Beattie and husband, Earl of Shelley, ID, Kathleen Fastre' and husband, Alain of Mt. View, CA; George De Mello of Shelley, ID; Joseph De Mello and Christopher De Mello both of Sacramento, CA. Also survived by 5 grandchildren, Jason De Mello, Desirae Wopshall, husband Wes, Jason Deo, wife Chawntay, Jennifer-Beattie Parkinson, husband Bob, Johnathan Deo, wife Kristen, and 9 great grandchildren; Dylan, Devyn, Draven, Dashten, Deven, Emma, Gavyn, Jayde, & Lila and 1 sister Patricia Stroh of Kailua, HI, and a brother in-law Harold.

Emma was a long time resident of Sacramento, CA where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Honolulu. Emma was proud of all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and loved each and every one of them. She loved cooking, reading, teaching catechism classes, taking care of her family. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family. She had a quiet strength and kind and loving heart. She was ever calm and serene in her catholic faith, and always had a beautiful smile.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 5, 2018, 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, (110 W Oak Street) in Shelley. The recitation of the rosary will be at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at Calvary Veterans Chapel in Citrus Heights, California (7101 Verner Ave). The family will meet at 10:00 for a viewing and Rosary Service. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Veterans Cemetery.
