Eric Davis Newman

Eric Davis Newman, Dad, Grandpa, Husband, Brother, & Friend, Age 71 of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed from this life on Friday April, 28 2023 at home, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Eric was born December 6, 1951 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Harry Davis and Jeanette Louise “Shelton” Newman.  Eric spent his first 5 years living throughout Southern Idaho from Filer, to Declo.  The family moved to Pocatello when Eric was 5 when Harry and Jeanette went to Idaho State University, at one time the family made the front page of the Idaho State Journal because all 7 of them were in school at the same time.  After Eric’s parents graduated the family moved to the Idaho Falls area.  Eric graduated from Shelley High School in 1971.  

In 1973 Eric met the love of his life MaryAnn Staples, they were married in June of 1973, they were together for 50 years.  They had two children Erica and Heath.  Eric lived for his family, and was always willing to do whatever it took to take care of them.  He was a truck driver for the majority of his life driving both long haul and locally.  He was especially proud to have driven over 2 Million miles in his career without an accident.    He also worked as a printer at Artco in Rexburg from 1982 – 1995, and met many life long friends there.  Eric was known for his vegetable garden, which he took joy in sharing with many friends and neighbors.  Eric loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and just enjoying the beauty of the area he loved living in. 

Eric is survived by his wife of 50 years, MaryAnn, His Children Erica (Korrinna) Matteson-Newman of Jackpot, NV,  Heath Newman of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Bonus Daughter Shahista Kruziger of Rancho Cucamonga, CA,  Granddaughter Shawna Newman, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Grandsons Joseph (Heidi) Lemond of Gaithersburg, Maryland, and Aiden Kruziger, Rancho Cucamonga California, as well as a step-grandson Steven Snyder of Filer, and his Great Grandchildren Petunia and Wolfgang.  Along with many nieces and nephews who he loved.  He is also survived by his younger sister Karen (Stephen) Goff, Augusta, GA with whom he always shared a special bond. 

Eric was preceded in death by, his parents Harry and Jeanette, his brothers Michael and Wesley, a sister Kristine. 

The family will visit with friends from 12:30 till 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Nalder Funeral home. Burial services will follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M. in the Goshen Cemetery.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Madison Cancer Center Especially Leslie Goulding and all the staff there.  As well as Enhabit Hospice with an extra special thank you to Shelby, Emily and Natasha who took such wonderful loving care of Eric in his final days.
