Eva Viola Gallup

September 12, 1923 — October 24, 2016

Eva Viola Gallup of Shelley passed away October 24, 2016.

She was born in Grant, Idaho on September 12, 1923 to Brandon and Ellen Clifford. She grew up and attended public schools in Shelley.

She married Fred Beck on June 30, 1941. He was very ill the four years of their marriage and passed away. Mom’s constant companion of his care was admirable. Later she met Ralph Beck, cousin to Fred, and they were married November 25, 1945. From this marriage, Carolyn and Ronnie were born. Sadly enough this marriage ended in a divorce.

Mom moved on with her life with her two small children with the help of her parents in Shelley. Then she met Lawrence Gallup and they got married in Reno, Nevada on November 4, 1950. Then on July 13, 1966 they were sealed in Idaho Falls Temple. Their lives started with four children. He had two children, Gaylon and Jackie, from a previous marriage. Mom brought Carolyn and Ronnie. Together they brought three more children Larry, Darlene and Cherie. So this new family consisted of his, hers, and ours. They lived in Goshen, Idaho for many years. One by one each child left home to start their own lives. Mom and Dad remained there. They traveled, went on fishing trips, and attended lots of game enjoying their lives together. Then one day they passed a home on Milton Street in Shelley and mom fell in love with this home and from there they moved to Shelley. They resided there together for 10 years. They were together for 54 years. Lawrence became ill and passed away July 25, 2004.

Eva worked at RT Frenches as a line worker for many years retiring in 1979. Her and her husband managed their own rental properties.

She was a big fan of the Idaho Falls Chukars and attended many games with her twin sister, Edith. They lived for the games and later Eva became a Utah Jazz basketball fan. They had a beautiful garden and mom canned everything they grew. She loved making pies and cakes from scratch.

Her daughter, Carolyn Jensen moved in with her to care for her the past 10 years.

She loved her children and grandchildren very much. She dearly loved her sisters, Edith Lindburg, Dorothy Leavitt, and brother, Gordon Clifford.

Eva is survived by her four daughters, Jackie (Dan) Nelson, Carolyn Ockerman Jensen, Darlene (Kenny) Balter, Cherie (Keith) Fry, two sons, Gaylon (Kathy) Gallup and Larry (Sherry) Gallup, twin sister, Edith Lindberg, 24 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son Ronnie, sisters, Dorothy Leavitt and Bonnie Clifford, brother, Gordon Clifford.

The family would like to thank Teton Healthcare and Hospice caregivers and director, Dr. Brad Erikson.
