Frank D. Williams

Franklin Dale Williams, Jr., age 85, passed away on Tuesday March 28, 2017, at The Gables of Shelley, from complication of diabetes. Just twelve days before his 86th birthday.

Frank was born on April 9, 1931 in Malad, ID, to parents Franklin Dale Williams Sr. and AnnaBell Gleed. He married Kay Jones on April 12, 1951 in the Logan Temple. He loved and supported his wife, who was a great inspiration to him and the love of his life.

Frank is survived by his sister Sandra Dixon of Provo, Utah and brother Douglas Williams (Ronda) of Ashland, Oregon, and his children, Patty (Les) Kidman, Debbie (Bob) Drollinger, of Shelley, Idaho, Jeff (MaryAnn) Williams of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Tammy Williams of Rifle, CO, Lisa (John) Bishop of Battle Ground, WA. and Tina (Brent) Rosenkrance of Boise, ID. Grandchildren Jared (Cheryl) Kidman, Ryan (Jamie) Kidman, Kim (Shane) Bateman, Curtis (Ashley) Kidman, Michael (Brittney) Kidman; Trevor (Lisal) Drollinger, Tyson (Brandy) Drollinger, Tenelle (Russell) Tolbert, Tiffany (Bert) Mecham, Tristan Drollinger; Chris Williams (Lindsey), Trent Williams (LeeAnna), Kelvin Williams, Amanda Sterling (Earl), Ryan Perrenoud, Trevor Perrenoud (Misty); Travis Bishop (Samantha), Jason Bishop (Lacey), Stephanie (Craig) Perrenoud; Darren Love, Chad Rosenkrance and forty great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife Kay Jones Williams, parents, Franklin Dale Williams Sr. and AnnaBell Gleed Williams, his Sister Emma Lou Irwin, two brother-in-laws Paul Irwin and Richard Dixon and two great-granddaughters.

Frank served in the US Army 43rd Infantry Division as a Corporal from 1952 to 1953. He completed advanced medical training in Bad Toelz, Germany and became a medic.

He attended Albion College and then Rick's College where he found his true interest in woodworking and became an Industrial Arts teacher. He began his teaching career at Sugar Salem High School and it was there that he became interested in archery and brought bow making into his classroom. In 1966 Frank was offered a job as the Industrial Arts teacher at Shelley Jr. High to teach leather work and plastic carving. He also started an archery club and influenced and touched many students lives. He used his skill as a carpenter and craftsman in various summer jobs and with the help of family, built their cabin in Island Park. Some of his fondest memories were spending time with family there, hunting and fishing, tying flies and crafting items for his family and friends until several days prior to his death. He was well known for his sense of humor, jokes and generosity with his handmade gifts which will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral services will be held Monday April 3, 2017, at 11:00 at the Shelley South Stake Center. The family will greet friends and family from 6 to 7:30 pm, Sunday at Nalder Funeral Home and prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:40 Monday at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by the David B. Bleak post 93 assisted by the Idaho Honor Guard.
