Garth W. Johnson, 83, longtime resident of Westminster, California passed away May 23, 2009.
He was raised and attended schools in Firth. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy and advanced rank from Seaman to First Lieutenant. He served in the Philippine Liberation, WWII, and Korean War. He received the Victory Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Ribbon.
After he retired from the Navy he was a contractor in Orange County, California.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel Johnson, daughters, Anita Chandler and Peggy Beaty, sons, Barry, Patrick, Drew, Clay, and Eric Johnson, brothers, Lewis, Boyd, and Val Johnson, sisters, Julia Henderson, and Marian Jones, 20 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He will be missed greatly by all of us.
Funeral services will be held May 30, 2009 in Westminster, California.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at 1:00 P.M. Monday June 1, 2009 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Military Rites by David B. Bleak post 93 of Shelley.
