Gregory Max Johnson

Gregory Max Johnson, 68, passed away March 2, 2020, in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Greg was born July 18, 1951, in Rigby, Idaho, to Max Lavar Johnson and Deaun Johnson. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby and Firth. After a short tour in the U.S. Army, Greg returned to Idaho and married Karen Blankenship of Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 1976, he relocated to Tampa Bay, Florida, eventually divorcing from Karen and marrying Tina Blaze. In 1980, Greg and Tina were blessed with a son, Gregory Johnson, and relocated back to Idaho where he attended ISU Vocational Technical Welding Program earning an associates degree. In the late 1980’s, Greg returned to ISU earning a second associates degree and federal licensing as an Airframe & Power Plant mechanic.

After earning his A&P license, Greg moved to Bothell, Washington, where he spent the next decade working for Kenmore Air Harbor. Following his stay in Washington state, Greg moved to Alaska living and working on airplanes in Juneau, Ketchikan & Wrangell, then relocating to Kingman, Arizona, and eventually home to Idaho.

Greg’s passion in life revolved around motorcycles. He in every sense of the phrase was a “Jack of All Trades”, a true wanderer that lived life by his rules. He was a member of the Highwaymen M/C, a welder, an aircraft mechanic, a Harley Davidson mechanic, an oil field worker, a father and grandfather. He lived from Florida to Alaska, but his heart was always in Idaho.

Greg is survived by his son, Gregory Johnson of Kingman, Arizona; granddaughter, Kylie Johnson of Toutle, Washington; sister Judy Christensen of Blackfoot; brother Jeffery Johnson of Rigby; and brother Rodney Johnson of Juneau, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby Johnson.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday March 14th at the Firth Cemetery. A Pot luck lunch to follow at the Firth Ward LDS Church (744 North 600 East) Please bring your favorite dish to share.
