G. C. Bird, 75, of Shelley passed away April 17, 2007 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 14, 1931 in St. Anthony, Idaho the youngest of 11 children, born to Alfred James and Elizabeth Maud Janes Owen Bird. He grew up in St. Anthony and later graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1949.
After returning home from three years in the Air Force, Chub returned to Idaho Falls and married Nettie JoAnn Williams, whom he had chosen three and a half years earlier, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on February 20, 1953.
He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was well versed in the scriptures. He enjoyed sharing his stalwart beliefs and testimony with his friends and family.
He worked at the INEL site for 23 years as an operator and electrician, and then spent the next 29 years running his own electrical contracting business, Electrical Support Services, which continues under new ownership. His knowledge and experience was so respected that he was continually being hired by such companies as Bradley Engineering as a consultant and later taught electrical code classes for Eastern Idaho Vocational Technical College up until the past year.
Survivors include his wife, children, Bruce Bird of Salt Lake City, Utah, Wendy (Evan) Pickett of Shelley, Brian (Corolee) Bird of Shelley, Todd (Becky) Bird of West Jordan, Utah, Tim (Debbie) Bird of Omaha, Nebraska, and Jeff (Trena) Bird of Tooele, Utah, 23 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, siblings, Lucile Foster of Oregon, Anola (John) Landis of Washington and Randy (Jean) Bird of Cheyenne, Wyoming.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Alice Bagley, Victor Bird, Elbert (Bill) Bird, Sybil Bird, Roxie Murri, Alphea Whitmore, and Velda Bird.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 21st at the Shelley Stake Center (325 East Locust). The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Saturday morning 9:30 till 10:40 A.M at the church. Interment will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery with Military Rites.
