Harold Edwin Johnsen

Harold Edwin Johnsen, 88, of Firth died January 28, 2006 at the Bingham Memorial Extended Care Center at Blackfoot.

He was born May 21, 1917 in Basalt, Idaho to Hyrum Parley Johnson and Elizabeth Chapman. He attended grade school at Basalt. The family later moved to Goshen. He receives an honorary High School diploma from Firth High School May 22, 2002. In January of 1942 he served in the Army Air Force, in India Burma during WWII for 31/2 years.

He married June White March 20, 1946 in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple, they later divorced. He married Martha Beckman in Spokane in 1974 they were later divorced.

He worked for many area farmers, The R.T. French’s company and the Community College of Spokane. He was a member of the Shelley Lions Club and of the Blackfoot V.F.W.. He retired and lived at the Firth Senior Citizens Center for 17 years, those people he considered family. He spent the last 5 years at the Bingham Extended Care Center, he loved everyone there and they loved him.

He enjoyed camping and fishing with his sons and loved family reunions, he always kept in touch with his brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Lonnie Ray Johnson and Harold Scott Johnson of Sacramento, California. Two sisters; Arlene Armstrong of Payson, Utah and Thelma Howell of Blackfoot. Two brothers Dean (Jackie) Johnson of Inkon; and Willard (Verna) Johnson of Firth; a Sister-in law Jennie Johnson, of Shelley; a step-sister Leta Henke of Portland, Oregon and a step-brother DeLoy (Ann) Yorgensen of Boise. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Alice, Irene & Gladys. Three brothers; Clarence, Glenn & Dell and One step-brother Lavon Yorgensen.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 till 8:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. Private funeral services will be held.

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Bingham Expended Care Facility 98 Poplar St. Blackfoot, ID 83221.
