Ivean Griffiths

Ivean Hansen Griffiths, 99, passed away at Promontory Point Rehabilitation on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from complications after a fall.

She was born in Hyrum, Utah, on April 10, 1924, to Reuben and Lauretta Jane Allen Hansen. She was the 4^th of 5 daughters.

She graduated as Valedictorian from South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah. After graduation she attended Utah State University. She was called to serve in the Northern States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She met and fell in love with Weldon John Griffiths from Clarkston, Utah, and they were married in the Logan Utah Temple on February 27, 1948. Their first job took them to Shelley, Idaho.

Ivean worked as the secretary to the principal of Stuart Elementary and secretary to the Superintendent of the Shelley School District.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ she served in many ward and stake callings, including stake Young Women president and gospel doctrine teacher. She served three missions with her sweetheart and loved the people in the Micronesia Guam, Singapore, and West Indies Missions.

Ivean is survived by: Jay (Nicole) of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Bonita (Jeff) Jardine of Ammon, Idaho; Nile (Wendy) of St. Louis, Missouri; Stan (Joy) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mardi (Don) Evett of Centerville, Utah; and Gene (Danette) of Yakima, Washington; 34 grandchildren, 96 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, her parents, her siblings: Retta Swenson, Leatha Baur, Verna Duvall, Carol Hill, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at the Shelley Idaho Stake (325 E. Locust, Shelley). The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 W. Oak, Shelley) and on Saturday from 9:30–10:40 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Clarkston Utah Cemetery.
