Jack D. Youngstrom of Firth, Idaho passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 surrounded by his family.
Jack was born on February 26, 1925 in Annis, Idaho to Jane and Enoch Youngstrom. He graduated from Midway High School where he played basketball as a “6 footer”. Jack enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served in the Pacific Theatre. That created a lifelong love and pride in the USA.
Jack married Mae Scott on June 1, 1944 while on leave from the Pacific. They were blessed with one son, Arnold, who died at birth, and five girls. With only a high school education Jack built the empire we called Powerline Construction Co.
Jack loved his work, his country, and time spent with his girls. He loved a challenge and could fix or build anything. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Jack is survived by one sister, Christina Oswald Casper, his Girls: Yutonna Bowden, Vicky Youngstrom, Jackie Youngstrom, Lori Johnson (Ron), Cindy Youngstrom , eight grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and his dog, Cookie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, a sister, a son, and his dog Cream. Jack will be missed desperately by all who were blessed to know him. Dad – we’re proud of you.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday December 27, 2010 at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 West Oak Street, in Shelley. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery in Menan, Idaho with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 of Shelley.
