Jack Meryl Evans, 84, died March 6, 2009 at Life Care Center in Idaho Falls Idaho. He was born September 13, 1924 in Belleview New Mexico to William Evans and Nancy Edith Miley.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie.
Jack’s residence was the Gardens Assisted Living Center at the time of his death. The residents at the living center loved Jack. They said that Jack loved cooking, gardening and fixing things. Jack looked after and watered the lawn.
During his younger years, he was an iron worker and really was a jack of all trades. He spent several years in Salmon Idaho with his brother Miley mining for gold.
He served in World War II in the US Army.
His favorite hobby was music. He played lead guitar and bass guitar in several bands over the years.
His niece Laura Murray writes, “He will be remembered by his nieces and nephews for his love of life, his love for his country, and his love for music. We remember him playing guitar, violin, harmonica, and piano. He loved Pie Town, New Mexico and Idaho. I wish to express my thanks to Calvary Baptist Church who cared for Jack as he found his way to Jesus. Thanks from his family who prayed for him.”
Jack had three brothers and four sisters, all have deceased. He has three children, Jimmy, Tony and Lela.
Jack was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was a blessing to all that knew him. Jack professed his faith and trust in Jesus during his time at Calvary Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday March 12, 2009 at Calvary Baptist Church 785 Ist Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Burial will be at Shelley Hillcrest cemetery in Shelley, Idaho. Military Rites will be preformed by David B. Bleak Post 93 of Shelley.
