Jackie Ruth Sollis, 70, of Shelley Idaho passed away on October 16, 2016 in her home due to cardiac arrest.
She was born to Joseph Paul and Lillian Ritta Sollis October 28, 1945 in Shelley, Idaho. She graduated from Shelley High School with the class of 1964 and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
As a child she also lived with her family in Salt Lake City, Utah, Phoenix and Yuma, Arizona and Fresno, California. She then returned to her beloved state of Idaho and lived in Idaho Falls and Shelley.
She was actively involved in many activities at Shelley High School. For example, she was voted Miss Personality, nominated to some homecoming royalties, crowned Chapter Sweetheart of the Ag Ball, and served as reporter and then secretary to the student body in her junior and senior years in high school.
She loved learning and attended Idaho State University where she earned two bachelor degrees and a master degree in counseling.
Throughout her life she worked for the Idaho State Police, Job Service in Sun Valley and with special needs kids in Ketchum. Later in life she worked with special needs adults.
She loved photography and was known to always carry a camera around. She took many pictures of her beloved family.
She loved the outdoors and especially loved skiing and fishing.
She is survived by her brother, Robert Sollis of Shelley, Idaho, nephews, Todd Sollis and Ryan Sollis both of Shelley, Idaho, Justin (Kim) Sollis of Roy, Utah, niece, Susan (Bruce) Searle of Lehi, Utah and nine grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Lewis and Ruth Cox, Sadie Vlahos, sister-in-law, Sharon Sollis and nephew, Alan Sollis.
Graveside services will be held at the Taylor Cemetery at 11:00 am Saturday October 22 2016. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
