James Gordon Hamilton, 81, of Shelley passed away November 14, 2010 at his home.
He was born in Shelley, Idaho on March 5, 1929. He was the fourth child and first son of James Campbell Green Hamilton and Eliza VaMeryl Jensen Hamilton.
He attended school in Shelley, graduating from Shelley High in 1947. He attended winter quarter of 1948 at Ricks College and later attended business school in Idaho Falls on the G.I. Bill.
He worked as a truck driver, a construction worker and as a carpenter. He also worked for Safeways Potato Warehouse, the State Potato Inspection Service, and Sun-Spiced retiring in 1993. Farm work was interspersed through much of his working life. He ran the family farm one year, worked for Vern Nelson and later spent several years farming for Jack Bendixsen. After his retirement he enjoyed fishing, reading and gardening.
Gordon served in the Army in active combat duty in Korea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sisters, Madge and Bonnie Merlene.
He is survived by two sisters, Fern from Boise, Idaho; Ethel (Lee) Peterson of Shelley; and two brothers, Kent (Beverly) of Albuquerque NM; and Waldo (Elaine) of Shelley; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday November 19, 2010 at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley. The family will receive friends 9:30 till 10:45 A.M. Friday morning before the services. Interment will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93.
