James Larkin Hiatt

October 16, 1919 — March 27, 2008

James Larkin Hiatt, 88, formerly of Shelley, passed away March 27, 2008, at the Mallory House in Idaho Falls.

He was born October 16, 1919 in Delta, Utah to James Elihu Hiatt and May Belle McCain. He grew up in St. George, Utah.

He enlisted in the Army and served in World War II for 4 ½ Years in the National Guard 115th Combat Engineers, and was honorably Discharged in 1945.

He met and fell in love with Mary Lou Cornaby and was married August 23, 1947 in Modesto CA, Their marriage was solemnized October 17, 1947 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married 60 years.

He worked as a Finish Carpenter and helped build many of the churches in California. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Hiatt of Idaho Falls; children Dorothy Jean (Darrell) Flint of St. Anthony; Jamie Rebecca (Ralph) Decker of Spokan, WA; Mark James (Kathleen) Hiatt of Idaho Falls; A Brother Lewis (Betty) Hiatt of Oakdale, CA and A sister Veda Nugent of Salt Lake City, UT. 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents 3 children Mary Lee Hiatt Kennedy, Baby Hiatt & Cynthia Hiatt

Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday March 31, 2008 at the Thayerwood Ward Chapel (5255 South 5th West) in Idaho Falls with Bishop Richard Dyer, conducting. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Monday morning at 10:00 till 10:40 at the church.  Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery with military rites by Bingham Post 93 of Shelley.
