Jeffrey Lynn Rigby (31) passed away in his home in Shelley, Idaho, on February 13, 2013, after a valiant two-year battle with adrenal cortical cancer.
Jeff was born June 30, 1981, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Brenda Goodsell and Ryan Rigby. He was the second of three children. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed football and wrestling. He graduated from Grace High School in Idaho in 2000. After high school he served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Manchester, England.
Even as a teenager, Jeff knew he would marry his best friend Alyssa Christensen. They wed on August 5, 2004, in the Logan LDS Temple. As best friends and eternal companions, they were closer than close. Jeff took pride in providing for his wife and showering her with love. In their almost nine-year marriage they lived for a time in Rexburg and Idaho Falls but made their home in Shelley, Idaho, and together had three children. He became a journeyman plumber and received his journeyman license in 2010 and joined the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union 648 and worked as a pipefitter when diagnosed with cancer.
Jeff was a survivor. From his high risk birth to several astonishing car accidents, Jeff experienced many miracles that allowed him to be a husband and father. His surgeries and cancer treatments never slowed him down. He continued to work and serve others and dedicate himself to his family. He taught his two daughters to ride their bikes after some of his most taxing treatments.
His passion for learning fueled a life-long pursuit of reading, traveling, and studying. Never one to sit still, Jeff always had a project and could often be found in the tool section of his favorite stores.
Jeff was so many things to so many people but his favorite role in life was that of a father, and his children were his pride and joy. From roasting marshmallows and sleeping in the tent in the backyard to building a tree house, he always made time to create magical moments with his kids.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Alyssa Christensen Rigby; his three children, Leya (7), Lynlee (5), and Christian (2); his parents, Ryan and Wendy Rigby and Brenda and David Pristupa; his siblings, Brandon (Toni) Rigby, Autumn (Michael) Lopez, stepbrother, Scott Pristupa and stepsister, Jamie Pristupa; and three nephews and three nieces.
