Joanne Leonardson Gotch, 85, of Shelley, ID passed away from heart complications at Eastern Idaho Medical Center on October 7, 2017.
Joanne was born August 26, 1932 to Wayne and Ester (Lent) Leonardson. She grew up in Idaho Falls, ID and had four siblings Margie Cleaverly, Jean Gianchetta, Art Leonardson, and Gail Leonardson.
Joanne married the love of her life Noel Gotch on February 2, 1952. They had two children, Dwain and Denise.
Joanne and Noel enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and spending time at their summer home in Palisades. But most of all Joanne loved bowling. She was avid bowler and enjoyed friendly competition on the lanes. She loved tournaments, and competed in 9 different states, including national tournaments. Through her life she earned many bowling awards including the state ‘High 5 Team’ six times, and was inducted into the Idaho Falls Bowlers Hall of Fame in 1976. She and some of her best friends were bowling in the Spokane North West Tournament when Mt St Helens erupted in 1980. It became quit the adventure! Joanne retired from R.T. French’s Company in 1994 after nearly 30 years.
Joanne loved her family, and in recent years enjoyed spending time with her great grandkids. Her great grandkids’ favorite memories were their many holiday traditions.
Joanne was proceeded in death by her husband Noel.
She is survived by her son Dwain (Jodi), daughter Denise, grandchildren Shelise, Mathew (Amber), Conley (Kristen), Bryce, and many loving great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Joanne was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother.
The family will accept visitors on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley, ID. Graveside services will commence at 1:00 pm at the Taylor Cemetery.
