John Edwards Kelley, 82, of Shelley, Idaho passed away at his home on Sunday, Nov. 21

surrounded by family.
He was born Dec. 22, 1927 to John and Bessie Kelley. He grew up in Shelley, Idaho and graduated from Shelley High School.
He married Vernetta Ellis in 1947. Following her passing he married Shirley Hampton in 1950 in the Idaho Falls, LDS temple.
He has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has served in many leadership positions, including Bishop of the Taylor Ward.
He farmed and worked in the Potato Industry all his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, riding horses and being in the outdoors.
He was very much respected and loved by everyone he associated with.
Survivors include his devoted companion, Shirley, his children: Kenneth (Vicki Corless), Richard (Mary Lyon), Jane (Richard) Marcum and Jack (Debbie Blake) of Idaho Falls and Joan (Carl) Van Tassel of Rupert, 18 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gene Kelley and one grandson.
There will be a viewing Friday, Nov. 26

at the Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and Sat. Nov. 27

from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Taylor Ward Building (1101 E. 1250 N. Shelley), with funeral services following at 11:00. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley
