Joyce Lynn Rowberry Thompson, 70, passed away at EIRMC on March 30, 2012, from a lingering illness.
Joyce was born on February 17, 1942 in Rexburg, Idaho to parents Wayne P. Rowberry and Irma Welch Rowberry.
Joyce graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg in 1960. After High School she attended the LDS Practical Nursing School in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
After graduation from nursing school in 1963, she began working at the LDS Nursing Home as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked there for several years, until the Nursing Home was closed.
In 1965 she married Bobbie G. Thompson from Shelley, Idaho in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They waited approximately eight years for their first daughter, Suzan Leann, followed quickly by Jennifer Lynn and Bryan Glen Thompson. Bobbie passed away in March 2010.
Joyce has only applied for three jobs in her life and was hired each time. After working at the LDS Nursing home, she worked a few months at a nursing home in Rexburg. She finished her career in 2005 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Idaho Falls when she retired. She loved Nursing and was loved by many of her patients. For most of these years she worked the midnight shift and would sleep in the daytime. She made many friends in the medical profession.
Another love of Joyce’s was the T.O.P.S. Club. (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), where she was the chapter secretary for many years. Each year, she and her daughter Jennifer attended the annual State Recognition Day held in various cities in Idaho. She made many friends in T.O.P.S, especially Yvonne Olsen who along with Joyce attended the same chapter in Idaho Falls for approximately 40 years.
Joyce is survived by her children, Susan Leeann Thompson, Jennifer Leigh Thompson, and Bryan Glen Thompson. Also surviving are siblings, Janice Aeschbacher, Patricia Berndt, and Michael Rowberry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bobbie, her parents, Wayne and Irma Rowberry, a younger brother David Lee Rowberry and a nephew Kerry Aeschbacher.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Shelley 10

Ward Chapel (1555 N 700 E) in Woodville. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home (110 West Oak) in Shelley and Tuesday morning from 10:00 till 10:40 at the church. Burial will be in the Shelley Hillcrest Cemetery.
